How to take the first step

Change is the only
constant in life, but it is something
within....
HOW TO TAKE THE FIRST
STEP
Change is the only constant in life, but it is something within our society that people have the most trouble with. It causes the most suffering for us. It can also bring about pleasurable and desirable experiences. Change is necessary for creating new baselines. We can direct it and allow it to morph and evolve in the way it needs to.
In order to create a new baseline of how we experience life, we have to be okay with change. Transformation is necessary in the process of creating new baselines, and it doesn’t have to be painful. It is important, however, to be okay with change. When you are ready, you will know. It will be a burning desire that can be overwhelming at times, or it can be subtle signs that you see or hear signs that are there for years and years just waiting for you to take the plunge into the unknown. Your first step in this journey is to evaluate how you deal with change.
How do you know if you are okay with change? Here is a list of things to watch for, and evaluate in your life in order to see where you are with change.
*Do you keep objects or things around you that are unnecessary and do not support your growth? Sometimes these can be objects such as an old collection of stuffed animals that you have been meaning to get rid of, because they remind you of a bad relationship. Or those objects that are taking up space where your new creation is supposed to be.
* Do you start projects and never finish them? Not because you don’t enjoy them – that is always good reason to stop – but because you weren’t ready for the change that they would bring you. For example, eating healthier foods and exercising more, in order to get healthier and getting rid of some excess fat, but stopping just as you are making progress. This is a common fear of success, but mostly the ego resisting, with “Stinkin Thinkin”.
*Do you keep yourself from doing the things you are interested in because your spouse or partner does not have an interest in them? Or maybe you think you may be judged by friends and family for even having an interest in them. Who cares, it’s your thing, do it for you.
*Do you make excuses for why you can’t do something or obtain something you really want?
*Do you feel like life is washing over you and you can’t keep up?
*If the unforeseeable happens, such as you are let go from your job or a family member gets angry at you for no apparent reason, do you struggle with it and take it personally?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are not okay with change. This is not out of the norm. We are generally not equipped with any working knowledge on how to deal with change other than to struggle with it. It’s not taught in school and in a lot of families it can be frowned upon.
We are here to tell you that change and creating new baselines can and will be easy if you follow some simple guidelines as laid out for you below. Read on.
1. Pick the change you desire to happen in your life. For example, becoming more abundant financially may be your new baseline. Set a clear goal for yourself. Remember to throw “reality” out the window, no matter how much you don’t believe it could happen – that is fear talking. So, if money is the change you desire, set your goal in writing like this, for example: I allow money and abundance to flow in my life more readily and in greater quantities because I know that I deserve it. (Make it more specific.) I am doubling my current income in this present moment, and all thoughts and actions I take are congruent with this belief.
You may not believe it, because you cannot see it, how it could possibly happen for you. Who cares how it happens! Just set the goal and be present with it constantly. Constantly remind yourself of this new belief especially when and if you feel hopeless. Keep it in your mind like a mantra or prayer. Make it a part of your daily routine.
2. Become conscious of the thoughts you have surrounding your new baseline of being more abundant. If negative programming comes up for you, such as when you are shopping at the mall and really want something, but think “I can’t afford that,” change that thought immediately by remembering what your mantra is. “I am doubling my current income in this present moment and all thoughts and actions I take are congruent with this belief.” Now picture yourself buying that object of desire. What does that feel like? What does it feel like to you? Experience it even before you have it. If it’s an outfit, go try it on, and keep the feeling of how the material feels on your skin, how great you look in the mirror with this outfit on. It’s like building the memory of already owning it.
Make the concerted effort to monitor your thinking and keeping yourself in line with your new goal. This can be challenging when you go to pay your bills and there is not much left over for anything, but remember your new baseline is more abundance. So, those bills will not hurt so much as your income doubles.
3. Be open to the signs that come. What we mean by “signs” is, say you made the decision to double your income and you come across a website that may look a little hokey but the people on the site claim that they can help you make more money. Be open to the new prospect. Research it. Contact the people who created the site and see what it’s all about. Throw out the skepticism and fear – because that thinking is not being congruent with your new baseline, see number 2 above.
One of the ways we created the opportunity to live the life of our dreams was to plug into a business opportunity that quite frankly seemed a little hokey to us at first. But we did our research, joined the community and started making money, when we chose to take the plunge. A lot of negative thinking came up for us as we did this. Most of the thoughts we had didn’t really belong to us anyway. Our parents taught us that you have to work a job for money and that it’s too hard to start a business. We didn’t really want to believe that. We liked the possibility of starting our own business and having that freedom. So, we took the steps and are glad that we did.
4. Resistance is painful. Anytime there is change there is loss. Do not belittle or suppress the feelings you have when you start to make change – they are extremely useful and integral to the process. When we moved from our house in the wrong part of town to the beach house with marble floors, we were put through the roller coaster of emotions that sometimes comes with change. On the outside, to someone else, they would look at our situation and say that is so awesome (which it was) “you get to live on the beach rent free.” It was awesome, but we had some very heavy duty choices to make which involved our beloved pets. But as you make changes that are perfect and in line with your highest good, one thing you will notice is that everything seems to line up perfectly and syncs up with your change. Although we felt the loss of losing our pets, we knew the home they were going to was better for them, filled with love and room to run around. It was perfect. We still felt the loss, but we did not resist it. We knew it was meant to be.
The more you allow yourself to feel the emotions that come with change, the more you allow the perfection of the situation to reveal itself and life moves smoothly.
Resistance can also come in the guise of force. When we “try” or force a situation to work the way we want it, rarely does it happen. Let us give you an example. We wanted to leave in July 2007 for our trip to Europe. We were forcing. It was not time. Nothing was really flowing except for our move out of the beach house and starting our businesses. The goal is still there. We will be taking off for our journey soon but when we stopped feeling the need to go and started working on the businesses, we realized that this work is the precursor and power behind our trip to Europe. Although, we can essentially do this in Europe, we are now allowing more time developing our means of service so that when we are there, we will be living our new baseline of freedom and service while there.
Don’t force anything. It causes pain. Make the decision to set the new goal, create your new baseline and take action when you get signs or inspiration. Monitor your thoughts and allow the emotions that come with change flow through you. Allow them to fuel your purpose. Make anger purposeful by transforming it into positive action. Allow fear to teach you about yourself and what beliefs you have about the world and yourself and change them if necessary. Just flow and throw resistance out of the window of your consciousness.
5. Take responsibility. It is time to take personal responsibility for everything that appears in your life. What occurs around us is a product of our thoughts, actions, and vibration. It’s time take a new position in our lives. No longer are we a victim, we are the masters. When we become the master of our lives and creations, then we have to take the responsibility for what we endure, whatever it may be. To simplify this concept, our thoughts become actions and our actions become results, whether we like them or not. If we create a new baseline for ourselves, and we decide to become more abundant for instance, this decision will lead to new results from our thoughts and actions. We may have to deal with the results of our thoughts and actions past, such as bills we created when we were in the mindset that we were not abundant, but over time these will be resolved (you will have the money to pay them) and what you get is a result of a new baseline.
Taking responsibility means being creative with your new thoughts and actions. If abundance is what you desire, spend time in places where abundance flows. Sip a cup of coffee at the most exclusive hotel in your area, or maybe surround yourself with wealthy like-minded people. It takes some creativity to come up with these little tricks that help you to maintain your new thinking. Do an internet search and find a website or several that speak about creating avenues of abundance and take action based on your learning.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. One thing to keep in mind when making these changes, is to take care of yourself. Do what makes you feel good and supports you and your new lifestyle. There are so many ways that assist in creating new baselines. Some of the practices we use are not on this site as of yet. If you have any interest in exploring this deeper, please contact us and we can assist you in finding direction that may be suited specifically to you.
